The RAG Top 30 : 30 Jan 2010

'Allo!! We're back! New year, same awesome chartiness, and a new number one. This week's top-spot dominators are The Used - Empty Without You, the second single off the album Artwork, and the second time they've been to number one - If you remember, last year the debut single off Artwork, Blood on my Hands, was also numero uno. Good work. 2 singles, 2 number ones. We salute you! From critic-land, some folks had this to say: "...a full-length that’s awash with intense lyrics about holding it together through the best and worst of times; an album that just gets better and better as the tracklist unfolds. It’s gross pop, dudes, and it sounds frickin’ sweet... "
Artwork, then, seems to come recommended.

This week we said goodbye to Rise Against – Savior (13 Weeks, Peaked at 1), Alexisonfire – Born and Raised (12 Weeks, Peaked at 3), and Weezer – If You’re Wondering If I Want You To (I Want You To) (11 Weeks, Peaked at 3). In their places 3 brand news songs arrived, each louder than the first. The Dirge Within have been around since 2007, and among their claims to fame, they played the 09 Jaegermeister Music Tour alongside Hatebreed, Type O Negative, and 3 Inches of Blood. They're proper double-kick-pedal-riffs-that-crack-glass-ear-schreech-screaming loud, and Forever the Martyr was the first of our new entries @ number 29.

At 27 was a new local entry from noughties rockers Namuh and a song called Flames To Ashes - it's nice to see these lads back on the chart; they've been quiet of late. The highest new entry this week was at number 26 courtesy of horror-rocker Rob Zombie and his new song called Sick Bubblegum. His new album is officially called Hellbilly Deluxe 2: Noble Jackals, Penny Dreadfuls and the Systematic Dehumanization of Cool... Ye. Ok Mr Zombie. I ask no questions.

Here then is this week's chart in all it's splendour:
